At Biddy Ball (K–2) Basketball Clinics, we foster a love of the game and build essential skills for Springfield’s youngest hoopers. Led by Coach Pat Tudryn, sessions blend instruction, fun, and games tailored for grades K–2. From dribbling and shooting to teamwork and confidence, we create a supportive, engaging environment where every child grows on and off the court.

Program Snapshot

• Who: Boys & girls in grades K–2 (no experience needed)

• Season: Year-round clinics; rotating sessions posted at registration

• Format: Short, high-energy stations + mini-games; small coach-to-player ratios

• Location: Gyms in Springfield, MA and nearby communities

• Lead Coach: Pat Tudryn with background-checked volunteer staff

• Access: Affordable fees, scholarships, and periodic free intro clinics. Our goal is to keep fees affordable and provide opportunities for scholarships. 

• Placement Pathway: Based on skills and interest, players may be placed into the Ballers Biddy League, featuring controlled, age-appropriate competitive games.

What Players Learn

• Fundamentals: Dribbling, passing, catching, shooting form, footwork

• Game Basics: Spacing, moving without the ball, simple offense/defense concepts

• Team Habits: Listening, sharing, taking turns, cheering teammates

• Character: Confidence, effort, sportsmanship, and having fun

Our Approach (K–2 Friendly)

• Age-appropriate gear: Size 27.5 balls, lowered rims (8–9 ft)

• Fun-first design: Short activities, positive reinforcement, lots of touches

• Inclusive & welcoming: Beginners thrive; all kids get meaningful reps

Mentorship & Mindset

We pair skills with mentorship teaching perseverance, kindness, and a growth mindset. Clinics emphasize mental-health awareness, helping young athletes manage emotions, try new things, and bounce back from mistakes.

Safety & Policies

• Safe, supervised sessions; dynamic warm-ups and hydration breaks

• Family-friendly viewing; clear code of conduct for players and adults

• All coaches complete background checks

Equipment & Uniforms

• Wear athletic shoes and clothing; bring a water bottle

• We provide balls and training equipment; loaners available if needed

Pathway After K–2

Graduates can advance into developmental/rec teams, skill clinics, and when ready tryouts for travel teams. Basketball with Springfield Ballers is year-round.
