Springfield Ballers Afterschool & Summer Program

A safe, structured place for kids to learn, play, and grow. The Ballers Afterschool & Summer Program blends mentorship, academics, and multi-sport activities with creative enrichment—so students build confidence on the court, in the classroom, and in life.

Program Snapshot

  • Who: Elementary & middle school students (K–8)

  • When: Afterschool: Dismissal on school days                                  Summer: [Full and Half day, multi-week sessions] 

  • Where: Sites in Springfield and surrounding communities

  • Transportation: Provided from select schools (limited seats): Kiley Prep, Kiley Academy, Chestnut, SRA, Kennedy

  • Food: Daily snacks provided (allergies accommodated when noted)

  • Access: Affordable fees, scholarships, and free clinics available

What We Do at Each Site

  • Mentorship Circles: Goal-setting, positive habits, and one-on-one check-ins with caring adults.

  • Life Skills Workshops: Time management, communication, leadership, teamwork, and conflict resolution.

  • Multi-Sport Rotations: Age-appropriate skills, games, and fitness across: 

    • Basketball (including early-skills stations building up to controlled games)

    • Lacrosse (Boys & Girls)

    • Golf

    • Track & Field

    • Softball

    • Soccer 

    • Flag Football 

    • Volleyball 

    • Baseball 

    • Dodgeball 

    • Pickleball 

    • Walking 

    • Hiking 

  • Homework Help & Tutoring: Quiet work time, reading support, and assignment check-ins.

  • Creative Enrichment: Arts & crafts, design projects, and hands-on activities; occasional STEAM projects.

  • Wellness & Mental-Health Awareness: Movement breaks, mindfulness, hydration, and healthy routines.

  • Character & Leadership: Respect, sportsmanship, community service projects, and peer leadership roles.

  • Nutrition: Daily snacks provided; allergy needs honored when noted.

  • Transportation Coordination: From select schools (above), with safe dismissal procedures.

  • Family Communication: Updates on progress, upcoming events, and volunteer opportunities.

  1. Check-in & Snack → 2) Homework Help / Reading → 3) Sport Rotation

  2. Arts/Crafts or Life-Skills Activity → 5) Cool-down, Reflection, Dismissal
